Build Your Business Consulting Skill Set.

Business is a broad field; consulting is one of its most dynamic subsets. No matter what career you choose to pursue, early consulting experience will equip you with valuable transferable skills attractive to employers across multiple fields. The Beacon Fellowship is a 4 or 8-week internship program specifically designed to cultivate these skills through mentorship from experienced consultants and hands-on consulting projects for clients facing challenging business problems.

Samuel S. | Princeton University | ‘19 Beacon Fellow

“I got real-world experience through interacting with clients daily, giving weekly presentations discussing strategy implications, and meeting project deadlines. Most importantly, I learned how to react when challenges arise, similar to what I should expect in the future.”

Sanjana A. | Washington University - St. Louis | '19 Beacon Fellow

“From doing a mock case interview, to writing a cover letter, to learning how to effectively network on LinkedIn, my Project Lead was and will always be one of the most valuable resources in my career. Even aside from scheduled trainings, he was incredibly patient and always willing to candidly answer questions — not just about consulting, but about anything and everything in general. Truly, I feel very fortunate to have had that kind of uninterrupted access to such expertise for one month.”

Why Beacon?

Typical business and consulting summer roles are often designed for the benefit of the company - regardless of the organization’s reputation or profile, summer associates or interns often engage in lower-level, administrative work that fits with their current level of experience, rather than expanding it. The Beacon Fellowship is unique in that it is designed for your benefit; it provides you with higher-level, direct consulting experience that stands out on your resume and pushes you to develop new skill-sets.

“I'll be interning with Booz Allen Hamilton this summer in their San Diego office! I'm super excited. Honestly [Beacon] was the big reason I started seriously considering the firm. Thanks so much for your help and mentorship! I'm glad so much good has come from doing the Beacon Fellowship.”

Beacon’s client partners include large and small businesses, nonprofits and government entities facing complex challenges. For the duration of their Fellowship, Beacon Fellows work at the client site, developing impactful solutions with the guidance of their Project Lead. Visit our clients page to read more.

“Being on site with the client every day, my team and I had full access to all the materials we needed, and we were able to learn so much more about the industry.”

Past Beacon Fellows have worked on client projects ranging from market expansion and competitor analysis to digital marketing and user experience. Usually, projects are large and multifaceted; thus the Project Lead divides Fellows into smaller teams based off of their proficiencies and interests, and Fellows tackle more focused aspects of the client’s business problem. “My team and I developed a novel financial model that is now the basis of our client’s international expansion plan. Interviewers have been very eager to hear about Beacon. The projects we undertook as Fellows were absolutely integral to the success of our clients, and we were given the tools and support to accomplish these projects at an internationally elite level. The sum of all of Beacon’s components undoubtedly make it the best summer program available to ambitiously successful business students.”

Our Fellowships are the perfect opportunity to study abroad in a meaningful way and outside of the regular academic calendar. New surroundings offer the possibility of exploring history, cuisine, geography and language. That’s why we offer Fellowships in major European hubs as well as our own nation’s capital. At Beacon, we believe that delving deep into a consulting project in a major global hub intensifies the learning process by forcing Fellows outside of their comfort zones.
