Aviation summer experience with the Beacon fellowship

Note: The Beacon Fellowship focuses primarily on a business field called consulting, but this program is specifically designed for those interested in aviation and aerospace summer programs, internships, or internship-like experiences. Beacon Fellows in aviation programs are often not interested in the consulting element, but they participate in Beacon due to their interest in having a meaningful aviation resume experience. No business experience nor business courses are required to participate. The cohort of mostly undergraduate students will be made up of a mix of students from engineering and business backgrounds.

What is beacon?

More than just a study abroad program, Beacon utilizes an elite-tier consultant as the primary instructor, and learning takes place in a several-week, intense consulting project for a top aviation or aerospace organization, itself an impressive brand.

Previous Aviation projects

Madrid, Spain, Beacon Airbus Program, December 2019, 2022 and 2023: Fellows consulted for Airbus BizLab and researched international markets for several innovative new product lines. Read about one perspective from a Beacon Airbus project in Madrid here. Note that Beacon is independent from Airbus, and Beacon is not itself an internship at Airbus, but is rather a program that is done together with Airbus, that essentially brings all the meaningful aspects of an intense internship in aviation while also being a study abroad program.

“It was a great experience as they got quite engaged and interested in the product itself. It was good to see the seriousness with which they worked. The project leader was a constant support to them for their learning. It was very professional and information-rich presentation. Everyone in the jury was happy and amazed to see the progress they made in such a short amount of time…The work done by Beacon Fellows is precious, and we will take it into our account for sure.” - AKSHAY GUPTA, INNOVATION ENGINEER | AIRBUS, EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES AND CONCEPTS (XTC)
