The Beacon Fellowship - Data Science (DS) Track
Note: The Beacon DS track is separate from the core Beacon Fellowship, which focuses primarily on consulting.
What is the DS track?
For business-minded undergraduates who want to go deeper into the world of data science, the Beacon Fellowship DS track provides the same intensive experiential learning program as the Beacon Fellowship, as well as in-class experience and tailored placement with a tech client. Students are able to begin the program with two weeks of in-class training, and use their new-found skills to work on a project tailored to their interests under a European professional working in a data science field. For those looking to explore a career in business and technology abroad, the Beacon DS track provides the best possible opportunity.
We work hard to provide relevant and challenging projects for each Fellows’ level of expertise. In their free time, Fellows will be able to explore Lisbon, which The Guardian describes as “a place so beautiful you can’t believe people are using it to live in.”
Lisbon has a robust tech startup culture and is an incredible tourist destination. The Guardian describes Lisbon as “a place so beautiful you can’t believe people are using it to live in,” and the city also hosts the annual Web Summit, the world’s largest tech conference, which Forbes calls “The best technology conference on the planet”. Entrepreneur Magazine argues that “Portugal is the new land of opportunity for tech startups,” and Lisbon is at the heart of it all. Forbes also calls Lisbon “the affordable European city you have been dreaming of visiting,” making it a great way to experience Europe while in college. In all, Lisbon is an exciting, beautiful, and affordable destination where Beacon DS Fellows can immerse themselves in an entrepreneurial, tech- and business-minded environment.
